The Golden House, or *Domus Aurea*, is a stunning testament to the grandeur of ancient Rome and the architectural ambitions of Emperor Nero. Built after the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64, this sprawling palace once covered up to 300 acres, encompassing gardens, pavilions, artificial lakes, and lavish banquet halls. Located near the Colosseum, the Golden House was designed as a symbol of Nero’s opulence, featuring innovative engineering and dazzling decorations.

Visitors to the Domus Aurea today enter a subterranean world, as much of the site lies buried beneath later Roman constructions.
